Located at 1290 N Hwy 67 in Florissant, MO, Sugarfire Smokehouse stands out as a premier destination for barbecue lovers seeking a flavor-packed, authentic smokehouse experience. Specializing in American BBQ, Sugarfire Smokehouse crafts a menu that centers on expertly smoked meats paired with inventive sides, inviting diners to indulge in a uniquely satisfying meal.
At Sugarfire, the star of the show is undeniably their meats. Whether you're craving tender, smoky ribs, the savory richness of their pulled pork sandwich slathered with St Louie Sweet Barbecue Sauce, or the bold flavors of their Brisket Cheese Steak, each bite reveals a balance of smoky depth and fresh seasoning. The Burnt End Plate, famed among locals, offers a succulent portion of caramelized brisket tips that melt in your mouth, beautifully complemented by your choice of two hearty sides and a crisp fountain soda. For those wanting to explore an array of flavors, the Three Meat Combo Plate is a generous sampler featuring any trio of smoked meats, ideally paired with classic Southern sides like creamy Mac and Cheese or the refreshing crunch of coleslaw.
The sides deserve their own spotlight. Imagine bright, tangy fried green tomatoes, velvety Mac and Cheese enriched with bits of turkey and beef brisket, and a robust link sausage and potato salad combo that elevates traditional barbecue accompaniments.
Dining at Sugarfire is casual yet lively, embodying a warm and welcoming atmosphere that suits gatherings both big and small. The no-frills presentation — where meals arrive simply plated or nestled on paper-lined metal trays — emphasizes the hearty, unpretentious nature of true BBQ culture. While some patrons appreciate this rustic charm, it’s also worth noting that it may not suit everyone’s preferences, particularly those expecting formal table service.
Real customer experiences paint a picture of both excellence and areas for growth. Many praise the breadth of smoky flavors and generous portions, with one guest highlighting the “fresh and delicious” quality of dishes like brisket stroganoff and ribs. The staff’s willingness to offer samples before ordering is a thoughtful touch that enhances the welcoming vibe. However, feedback also points to occasional hiccups with order accuracy and packaging, as well as pricing that some find on the higher side, especially for combo meals topping $40.
Despite these nuances, Sugarfire Smokehouse delivers a memorable barbecue journey suffused with bold, smoky aromas and textures that celebrate Missouri’s rich BBQ heritage. For those seeking a hearty, flavorful pitmaster-crafted meal in an inviting, laid-back setting, Sugarfire is a standout culinary spot in Florissant.
We went here for the first time for my husband's birthday. Everything was fine, but the food. I ordered the Brisket Cheese steak and it was messy and not very good. My husband got ribs and brisket with fries and coleslaw. He wasn't able to enjoy the brisket because they didn't put it in the bag. Everything was over $40 and I think that's a little ridiculous.
First time visitor and was not disappointed. The staff was wonderful offering samples before ordering. The food was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the ribs but also tried a little bit of all the meats. I ordered the coleslaw, Mac n cheese, potato salad and brisket stroganoff. My favorite was the brisket stroganoff. Great portions and yummy food.
The food was delicious. I forgot to take pics. The service was excellent. I ordered the plate pulled pork. It is not served on a plate. They throw some paper on a big metal tray, write your order on the paper and then place your food on it. This might be fine for younger people but we took my 89 year old mil (it was her birthday dinner) and she only has one good arm. I guess we are old fashioned. My fork didn't tear the paper but it was close. Again, the food was great, the staff were friendly and helped us with our order. The 4/5 is because of no plates. When you order a meal called a plate dinner, you (I) expect a plate.
Their meat selection is good, it is smoked , but not overly smoked. They have a twist on their sides...
